Sean Dougherty MS, MEd

Life brings its challenges. Sean seeks to assist clients by helping them discover hope, healing, and resiliency amid difficult circumstances. He earned a master’s degree in school counseling from Lancaster Bible College, a master's degree in sports management from California University of Pennsylvania, and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. Sean has been specializing in youth mental health and counseling for over a decade and has worked with children, adolescents, and young adults for about 15 years. He has been a teacher, athletic coach, counselor, professor, and educational leader in K-12 and higher education settings. Sean is a certified school counselor. 

Sean sees adolescent and adult clients, and his areas of focus include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, stress, grief & loss, school adjustment issues, career decisions, youth mental health, sports anxiety, perfectionism, adjustment to changing family dynamics/divorce, and parenting strategies. He is a husband and father and is passionate about serving families. Sean is known to have a personable and down-to-earth way. He places an emphasis on the importance of self-care for the whole person including physiological, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. In session, Sean takes a person-centered learning approach to counseling and uses theories such as cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and rational emotive behavior therapy.
